Zamora is a part of the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León and covers an area of 10560 sq. km. housing aprox. 200.000 inhabitants, whereof about 30% lives in the capital of the same name.
Zamora offers many diverse experiences, whether it be cultural, historical or geographical.
The church Santa Maria and the castle of La Mota or Parador de Benavente is located in the city of Benavente a mere 65 km. from the capital. The natural park Arribes del Duero is located on the frontier of Portugal. In Toro which is only half an hour drive from the capital you find the church, Santa Mária la Mayor and here is also a historic center with Palacio de los Leyes, amongst others. The lakes of Villafáfila is the second largest water reserve in Spain and is considered a hot spot for bird watchers due to the vast variety of bird species found here.
In the City of Zamora you find the Cathedral of Zamora and Castle of Zamora. Also The Palacio de los Condes de Alba y Alista, built in 1459 and the Museo de Semana Santa de Zamora is worth a visit.
