Teruel is part of the Autonomous Community of Aragon and has an area of approx. 14800 sq. km. housing about 140.000 inhabitants, whereof around 25% lives in the capitol with the same name.
The province boasts a great variety of ancient monuments, sights, cultural and historical events.
The Teruel Cathedral, Catedral de Santa María de Mediavilla, is one of four churches categorized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon also includes the churches of the Saviour ,San Pedro and San Martín. One of the most famous monuments in Teruel is the statue of the little bull, El Torico.
Dinópolis Teruel or Parque Paleontological is a museum and theme park focusing on dinosaurs. It entails 3 other museums that all are centered around dinosaurs and the remains of dinosaurs discovered in the area.
