The Province of Lugo is located in the Autonomous Community of Galicia and covers an area of sq. km. - housing approx. 360.000 inhabitants, whereof around 38% populates the capital which also have the name of Lugo.
The City of Lugo is set above the river of Minho, Rio Miño and is named after the Celtic God of Lugus. Lugo is surrounded by an intact Roman wall, which is protected as an UNESCO, World Heritage Site. The Cathedral of Lugo is dedicated to St. Froilano and the elegant stalls was carved by Fransisco Mouro in 1624. The seminary of San Lorenzo, Lugo, was founded in 1591 and is today incorporated with the University of Salamanca.
Lugo also boasts a variety of sights, monuments and museums. Below a few of importance:
