The Province of La Coruña is the most northern and the most western province of Spain. It is part of the Autonomous Community of Galicia. The province has an area of about 8000 sq. km. and a population of 1.2 million inhabitants. The Capital is also named La Coruña and has a population of 385.000 including the whole Metropolitan area.

The Coast of Galicia is known as Rias Altas and is becoming an increasingly attractive place to invest in property for sale in Spain.

La Coruña International Airport is named Alvedro Airport and has daily flights to the UK and Portugal. It expedites a total of 1.26 million passengers annually.

La Coruña also prides itself of having the second largest port in Spain.

The Roman Tower of Hercules, La Torre de Hércules, is a light house that has been functioning uninterrupted for nearly 2000 thousands years and the name La Coruña is derived from this tower.

The Galerías, which is special glazed window balconies is one more thing that puts La Coruña on the map. The idea started in El Farrel, in the 18th. century, where workers on the Royal Dockyard came up with the brilliant idea of using the shapes, from ships of war, and integrate it into modern building design.

Football is a big thing in Spain and here as well, of course! The local club, Deportivo de la Coruña, that plays in the best Spanish division, has a long and glorious history.

The international clothing company Zara, which is founded by Amancio Ortega Gaona is also from La Coruña.
